Tribe walks No. 9 hitter 4 times

The Indians walked Mariners’ centerfielder Ryan Langerhans four times on Friday night. There’s nothing too out of the ordinary about a four-walk game, but here’s the kicker: Langerhans was batting 9th.

Prior to Friday, Tribe pitchers hadn’t walked a No. 9 hitter four times since July 4, 1929 when Red Faber, a Hall of Fame pitcher for the White Sox, was given four free passes. The Indians lost that game 9-2.
