The Indians eight-game win streak came to a screeching halt on Tuesday, as the Tribe was blanked by Angels starter Dan Haren.
You would think an eight-game streak getting snapped by a shutout would be rare, but you only have to go back two streaks to find the last time it happened to the Tribe. In August/September, 2007 the Indians had won eight straight when they were blanked by the White Sox.
However, Chicago needed four pitchers in that game so you have to go back further to find the last complete game shutout.
The last pitcher to toss a shutout against the Indians when the Tribe was riding an eight game win streak was George Zuverink of the Tigers in 1954. Zuverink, who briefly pitched for the Tribe in early 50s, out-dueld Don Mossi to pick up the 1-0 win in 11 innings.
